After a successful first edition, Game Happens!, the event focused on the future of the videogame and the growth of this important creative industry, is back in Genoa. With this article we are going to unveil the details and the full program of this interesting initiative.
As already know everybody that follow our multiple activities, we are present in those contexts that allow us to expand the discussion about independent videogames. We taking part in a wide range of events, addressed sometimes to gamers, sometimes to game developers and sometimes to the general public (E.g. Indiegames Madness, Outré Videogames, Summer Games Party, Textural Videogames, just to name a few).
For this reason, recently, we have presented our projects in trade fairs an shows such as Milan Games Week, Mantova Comics, Cartoomics, as well as in the Global Game Jam at the Politecnico di Milano, Este in Gioco or at the Svilupparty.
Following this path, Friday, June 26, we will participate to the second edition of Game Happens!, a workshop and networking opportunity, dedicated to professionals and aspiring videogames developers.
The theme of the event is Beyond the Screen, addressed through free-to-play stations, conferences, presentations and a roundtable.
Alongside the Playing The Game conference, there will be many international personalities, who will share their experiences related to design and development of digital games.During the conference will be discussed topics related to bring digital game in the physical space, through alternative controllers and innovative user-interfaces.
A significant part of the day will be devoted to new virtual reality devices, and to cutting-edge themes like experiments of play between living beings, human and non-human, mediated by the software.
Also, don’t miss a music and art performance, between social networking and new media.

Among all the videogames that will be presented during the afternoon, we recommend Red Rope: Don’t Fall Behind, a really interesting cooperative game.
Furthermore, Paolo Branca, Playing The Game’s founder, will present HARDcade Video Mapping, combining the video projection mapping techniques, with the mechanics of the famous electronic game Simon (1978), with the will of lead the videogame “Beyond the Screen”.
In short this is an opportunity to discover the most interesting horizons of the videogame medium, try new products and exchange ideas and experiences with those who have made the videogame their job.
Game Happens! is organized by Federico Fasce, Marina Rossi, Alessandra Carboni already founders of the independent studio Urustar, and the Genova–Liguria Film Commission, with the support of the Società per Cornigliano, Centro Ligure Produttività and the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Milan.
